Before Argatroban, there were no drugs approved for the prevention and treatment of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, a condition that can cause devastating outcomes such as limb amputations, stroke and death. Similarly, pulmonary hypertension, for which we are developing our lead endothelin antagonist sitaxsentan, is a progressively fatal disease that is still poorly treated with available therapies.
