Paul S. Manierre, Esq.
President, Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel
Paul S. Manierre, Esq., has served as our Vice President and Legal Counsel since October 2005. Mr. Manierre joined Encysive from Eisai Inc., a research-based pharmaceutical company where he served as Associate General Counsel from 1998 to 2005, and as Senior Counsel from 1995 to 1998. He previously worked as a Corporate Intellectual Property Associate at the Law Firm of Graham & James (now Greenberg, Traurig/Squire, and Sanders) from 1987 to 1995. Mr. Manierre is a member of the Bar Association of the City of New York, the Food and Drug Law Institute, and the American Corporate Counsel Association. He holds an LL.M in Asian and Comparative Law from the University of Washington School of Law and a J.D. from Depaul University College of Law. Mr. Manierre earned his Bachelor’s degree from Earlham College in Indiana.

Richard Dixon, Ph.D.
Senior VP, Research; Chief Scientific Officer
Richard A.F. Dixon, Ph.D. has served as our
Senior Vice President, Research and Chief Scientific
Officer since March 2000. Along with
Dr. James Willerson, Dr. Dixon founded Encysive
Pharmaceuticals, and became the first full-time
employee in 1989. Before starting Encysive Pharmaceuticals,
Dr. Dixon was the Director and Head of Molecular
Biology at Merck Sharp & Dohme Research Laboratories,
a division of Merck & Co., from 1988 to July
1990. In addition, Dr. Dixon serves as a Professor
in the Department of Internal Medicine at The
University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
Dr. Dixon is the author or co-author of more than
100 scientific papers and has invented twelve
patented therapeutic technologies. He received
a B.S. from Texas A & M University, graduating
cum laude, and a Ph.D. in virology from the Baylor
College of Medicine.

Heather Giles, PhD
VP, Strategic Planning
Heather Giles, PhD, joined us in November 2001 as vice-president, Strategic Planning. Dr Giles has extensive experience of drug discovery and development in numerous therapeutic areas including cardiovascular, respiratory, inflammation and CNS. Prior to joining us at Encysive she held the position of International Disease Strategy Director for Asthma and Rhinitis at GlaxoSmithKline R&D. She was Head of the Receptor Pharmacology department at GlaxoWellcome R&D, UK from 1995-2000. From 1983-1995, at Wellcome R&D, UK, she held various research, project leader and management positions of increasing responsibility with particular focus on cardiovascular disease. Dr Giles received her BSc (1st class honors) from London University and a PhD in Pharmacology from University College, London; has published more than 40 scientific papers.

Pamela Mabry
Executive Director, Global Human Resources
Pamela Mabry has served as our Director of Human Resources since November 2002. She joined the company as HR Manager in February 2001. From 1997 to 2001, Mrs. Mabry was head of Human Resources & Administration for a national Information Technology firm. Prior to that, she was area manager for a large staffing agency in Houston and thereafter a principal in an oil & gas services firm. She began her career with a four-year tour of duty in Taiwan where she worked for the Taiwan Defense Command. Mrs. Mabry graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English from Saint Edward's University in Austin, Texas. She completed an additional year of postgraduate study at Rice University in Houston concentrating on professional development in human resources. Mrs. Mabry is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Society of Human Resource Management and is a member of the national Employment Management Association.

D. Jeffrey Keyser
VP, Regulatory Affairs
D. Jeffrey Keyser joined Encysive in April 2004 as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. Prior to joining Encysive he served as Vice President, Development and Regulatory Affairs of Adams Laboratories. From 1995-1997 Mr. Keyser was the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Medeva Americas. Mr. Keyser held various regulatory affairs positions at Marion Merrell Dow from 1991-1994 and at Marion Laboratories from 1985-1991. Mr. Keyser began his pharmaceutical career at Abbott Laboratories in 1980 as a Regulatory Affairs Administrator. Mr. Keyser received a B.S. degree in pharmacy from Creighton University. In addition, Mr. Keyser holds a J.D. degree from Creighton University and a Masters in Public Affairs and Administration from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
